[Impact LIVE] Hydrogen Driving Japan's Sustainable Transportation – Towards a Hydrogen Society

Thursday July 07 2022

15:40-17:40 Japan Standard Time (GMT+9)

Description:

Road vehicles account for nearly 20% of global CO2 emissions from energy and 75% of transportation specific emissions. While much of the efforts to decarbonize the sector have been focused mainly on BEVs for the light-duty segment, hydrogen-powered FCEVs equally offers a substantial promise and potential, especially in areas that require low downtimes, long distances of drive, and carry heavy loads, such as taxis, buses, trucks, heavy-duty vehicles, and trains.

Japan is the 1st country to adopt a "Basic Hydrogen Strategy" and plans to become a “hydrogen society”. The nationwide hydrogen market is expected to grow 56-fold to JPY 408.5 billion (approx. CHF 3,7 billion) by 2030, providing exciting business opportunities among the end-use scenarios such as transport decarbonization.

Nevertheless, the widespread adoption of FCEVs is not as easy as it is expected. The journey comprises of much rise and fall.

How to interpret the Japan transport market and the role in which hydrogen plays? In this webinar, we bring together advices from Japan and international practitioners.
